Mayor Jim Clement has scheduled a Tax Hearing for May 11, 2015. He announced the Tax Hearing on May 8th by posting the meeting agenda at the WPPOA park gate.
Included on the agenda is the presence of Bexar County Tax Assessor Collector Albert Uresti as well as a Carlos Gutierrez. The agenda states they will answer questions about taxes from Aldermen and citizens.
Clement is recommending a property tax of 35 cents per $100, 5 cents higher than what the City Council had originally wanted in September 2014 when they accidentally passed a property tax of 30 cents.
The Tax Hearing will be the first time the City Council has discussed property tax and looked at a budget since September 2014.
May 11 Update: Tax Hearing Canceled
Just before 6:30, the scheduled time for the Hearing, Mayor Jim Clement stood outside the WPPOA park gate to greet people and tell them the Tax Hearing had been cancelled. Clement said the reason was because he didn’t put proper legal notice in the newspaper.
