Problems With the Sandy Oaks Map
No Highway
Art Martinez de Vara, mayor of Von Ormy and the consultant for the Sandy Oaks Political Action Committee (SOPAC) and the Committee to Incorporate Sandy Oaks (CISO) has said that the boundaries include the bridge over I-37. This is not shown in this map nor any others that could be found.
Having the highway included is important because it could possibly increase revenue for ticketing traffic violations.
Poorly Drawn Lines
Another important problem with the City boundaries is that they cut out large sections of the community. These areas will not have to pay city tax, but will benefit from any of the city services (such as road repair) that those inside Sandy Oaks will have to pay for through taxes.
Zero Room To Grow
The boundaries for the City of Sandy Oaks map provide no growth. This is a huge cause for concern because as of right now, the city only has 4 commercial properties. In order to have more commerce (and thus lower residential taxes) the city needs to be able to have space to grow.
This map was generated by the City of San Antonio, who had to approve our request to incorporate, because we are in their Extra Territorial Jurisdiction. I suspect that both Jim Clement and the Fab Five are uninformed enough that this lack of highway access has escaped their attention. And it shouldn’t have. Knowing what the boundaries of the city are is at least as important as knowing that more than half of your population are unhappy with the way this has happened. Yet, they (the Fab Five) seem blissfully unaware of this. The Outsiders are getting my vote, and I wouldn’t vote for a Fab Five if my life depended on it, because it might.
People are sooo quick to make wrong comments. Where were you when they were working on making water wood a city and better place for people to live? Why would anyone want to vote for someone who hasn’t done anything to help waterwood become a city or hasn’t been a resident but for a few months? people should be wanting to help sandy oaks become a good city, and not throw dissentng comments about each other.
Hi Triker, thanks for joining in on the conversation.
You said people are so quick to make wrong comments, but then you didn’t point out what was wrong.
I think many people were at home, happily living in the country, when others sought to turn this area into a city.
As for someone running for office who has only lived here for a few months, this is exactly what was fought for by those who wanted this area to become a city. Becoming a city means becoming a Type A Municipality. Becoming a Type A Municipality means that anyone who has livid in the area for just 1 day can run for alderman.

Where was I? Doing everything in my power to stop this lunacy from happening. I am REALLY looking forward to hearing your comments after the property tax assessments come out and you find out how much this is going to cost you if the Fab Five win.
I’d like to know just how making this neighborhood a city, with additional city property taxes will make this a better place to live. Do you have any inside info as to what is planned for our taxes? I ask, because Jim Clement and his buddies don’t have those answers when I’ve asked them. They aren’t even sure just who owns the park!!!! Besides, do we really want the same people who couldn’t even run a homeowners association try to run a city???
