Platform: community initiative neighbor helping neighbor with a supportive city counsel and without causing further financial burden on the already economically stressed homeowner.

What specifically would you like to accomplish in the first year?

2) I/we would like to try to clean up the community with bulk pick up of trash paid for by the county and through volunteer assistance for those who are elderly and disabled.

I/we will bring out SNAP to spay/neuter and vaccinate pets and also try to microchip and register all pets to their owners. We will educate on proper pet ownership and responsibility. It is my idea and plan to set forth an ordinance for pets at large but first we must educate and register pets to owners and give the community time to comply.

Try to reduce crime by reaching out to the children and teenagers in our community by giving them a voice and asking them what we need to do for them to keep them happy so they do not feel so tempted to be mischievous. Be neighborly, just get to know our neighbors again, share phone numbers, keep an eye on each other and reach out to those who need help. Bring the community together through holiday events, community fund raisers, biannual community yard sales, picnics in the park, block parties and maybe even dancing under the stars. I feel if we start enjoy our city together we will protect it together. I feel the crime issue is coming from within so let’s fix it from within.

What are the first three ordinances you would like to pass (besides those that first set up the municipality)?

What do you think is the single most important issue to deal with in the community?

3) single most important issue in the community is poverty we need to help bring an annex of social service to the community since so many can not get to the service. My co candidate Micki Ball has a great idea of a street call list for each street the neighbors share phone numbers and if someone on that street needs emergency help they can call each other and then reach us and we can get to them help immediately, rather than trying to call through a list of all 4000 residents in hopes we don’t get to someone too late. After meeting already with County Commissioner Chico Rodriguez along with my co candidates Micki Ball and David Tremblay I/we know that HUD grants will be made available to us to begin helping our neighbors get back on their feet. Help is very empowering and can truly change a persons life. I don’t care how far a person falls with support they can always get back up.

What are your ideas on how the city can develop a dedicated revenue stream to best benefit Sandy Oaks?

4) I can only say that with minimal commerce it is my intention to not have the burden of revenue fall on the already economically burden working class homeowner. We will just have to do our best with utility tax, right of way, internet sales and the few commercial business that we can draw revenue from. We can rely on county service that we are already paying for until such time that we decide if we can or can not afford to take them over. It’s my plan as well as my co candidates to not impose a residential tax the first year and not spend the first year. We do not want our humble little city to go into debt we need to know first how much we will have to work with and go from there.

How, as an alderman in the future, will you reach everyone in the city of Sandy Oaks to hear their input?

What qualifies you to have the power to run a city of 3,800 people?

5) I am no more qualified than the single mother of 3 living next door to me who works three jobs, provides for her children and still manages to keep them on a straight path of education and good values, all while she gets 4 hours sleep per day. I plan to run this city as an extension of my family. I will only go by my instinct and by what my heart tells me. I am great in crisis situations on large scales this is usually when I shine. I lived in Florida from hurricane Andrew to Wilma and after every storm I was in the front lines of clean up, going to local grocery stores getting them to donate ice, water, baby supplies, first aid, Home Depot for clean up supplies, blood banks for blood drives ect ect, In Florida I had a celebrity charity golf tournament to raise funds for a no kill animal rescue league and it was a success. In Castroville I was on outreach committee at my church and started a cloths closet which blew up to become a cloths closet, furniture, car seats, cribs, dishes, school supplies, linens, dishes everything closet. It’s not power that qualifies a person to run a city or even how long a person has resided in thus city. What qualifies me is a desire to want to help, love in my heart for my fellow neighbor and to just want to make things right and fair for all.

Friends, neighbors and fellow candidates. I feel I truly have done my best to inform and reach out to the community. Tomorrow begins early voting and I am confident that no matter how things turn out I have gained many new friends as well as learned we have a great community. I look forward to the many years to come when we no longer just live next to each other but live together as a community of one. Win or lose I am going to live up to my promise to make this city a great place for everyone. Of course your vote starting tomorrow will be appreciated and warmly welcomed but either way I remain true to my promises. Many obsticals were thrown my way but I never lost sight of why I chose to get involved…. To be the voice of a caring community that was kept in the darkness and silenced for too long. Please vote #1 Cathleen Lamoureaux Recio #2 Micki Ball & #6 David Tremblay
Thank you and have an amazing week, Sandy Oaks

I just want to thank all my neighbors for your support. This has been an amazing experience. I wouldn’t change a thing if I were to do it all over again . I am very proud to have had the opportunity to get to know so many great people . This is not the end of me, I always keep my promises and I never quit. I know in my heart that this election has broken the silence and the community has it’s voice back. Let’s keep working together to accomplish our goals. I will prove that whether a person is on city counsel or just a citizen a lot can be accomplished if you want it bad enough.
    All my gratitude and love
