The second City Council meeting was held on August 28, 2014.  The location was the Waterwood clubhouse, however the address listed on the meeting agenda had the location of a private home next door.

Setting a date and time for a Budget Hearing

The date for the Budget Hearing was set to September 28, 2014 at 7pm in the Waterwood clubhouse.

Gay motioned to have regular meetings on the 2nd Thursday of each month at 6:30pm

Proposed procedures for posting of meeting agendas

The Council decided that there should be a minimum requirement of 3 Aldermen to call a special meeting, or that the Mayor could do so when he felt.  However, this is already part of the Texas Local Government Code.

The Council also made it so that 2 Aldermen are required for an item to go on the agenda of future meetings.

Aldermen Place numbers and Uniform election date

Aldermen picked place numbers out of a hat.  The following is the result:

  • Place 1: Tremblay
  • Place 2: Tomasini
  • Place 3: Ortega
  • Place 4: Ball
  • Place 5: Gay

The Council passed an ordinance that the position of Mayor and even numbered Alderman places would be up for election on even numbered years.  Odd numbered Alderman places would be up for election on odd numbered years.

As part of the ordinance the November National Election Day was chosen as the official election date.

The minutes of the meeting says the vote was 4-1, but doesn’t say who voted against the ideas.  SON believes it was unanimous and that this is a type.

Ball motioned to consider TML liability insurance but to also get 2 other bids

Vote was 4-1, with Tomasini voting against
